Today I set aside all my boss’s demands to discuss a suggestion. As usual, my boss was enthusiastic and list-oriented.
I used the trick I learned from Tyler Cowen’s paper about using GPT for economics of asking for an expert and then telling ChatGPT to say how that expert would respond.
I wasn’t crazy about these names either though. After going back and forth I started suggesting silly things, but my boss actually helped me recognize that others might see them as negative rather than just silly.
I’ll spare you more deliberations… I went down rabbit trails asking it for two word names where the first word was measured and scientific and the second word was expansive (like the name Marginal Revolution). Eventually we ended up back home.
If you’ve read this far and have a solution to the problem of spending too much time deliberating domain names, let me know in the comments.
There are people who make businesses out of expired domain names. If the name looks good and there are already other sites that link to it, they buy it and start a relevant business. E.g. this guy who bought onions.com when it expired and started selling onions online: https://www.onions.com/
I've been meaning to ask you about your youtube setup, I'm glad you got so much mileage out of that blue yeti. I got this one, a splurge for sure. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08G7RG9ML
domain names and company names ideas are so difficult for me to wrap my head around. no help here unfortunately. I think the one you landed on was a good one though! I'm curious what microphone you decided to buy? I still have your old microphone so if you want to return your new one and save the $250... 🤣
